Federal Member for Flinders Greg Hunt said he was pleased to announce federal funding for St Joseph’s Primary School.
“I am incredibly pleased to announce that St Joseph’s Primary School in Crib Point will receive $1.25 million in Commonwealth Government funding for a new senior building,” Mr Hunt said.
“This funding, provided through the Capital Grants Programme (CGP), will allow the school to construct a new senior building that will include general learning areas, multipurpose spaces, student amenities, support spaces and an outdoor learning area.
“The school does a fantastic job educating our local young people and these new facilities will make an enormous difference to both students and teachers.
“I look forward to seeing the new facilities when they are completed.”
St Joseph’s Primary School Principal Gabrielle Espenschied said the funding would allow the school to continue to expand its facilities.
“We are very excited about the development of these new facilities,” Mrs Espenschied said.
“The outdoor learning space will provide a wonderful atmosphere for students to enjoy hands-on learning and the new senior school building will be a great addition.”
Mr Hunt said the CGP provided funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure where they may not otherwise have had access to sufficient resources.
“This record investment in school funding is allocated according to need and is tied to a range of evidence-based initiatives to improve outcomes in literacy, numeracy, Science Technology Engineering and Maths subjects, helping lift teacher quality and better preparing our children for life after school,” he said.
“The Turnbull Government is committed to improving the quality of education in schools and ensuring students have access to the resources they need to succeed in a competitive world.”
