Federal Member for Flinders Greg Hunt said he was pleased to announce federal funding for St Brendan’s Primary School.
“I am pleased to announce that St Brendan’s Primary School in Somerville will receive $1.2 million in Commonwealth Government funding for new classrooms,” Mr Hunt said.
“This funding, provided through the Capital Grants Programme (CGP), will allow the school to relocate buildings to make way for four new classrooms.”
St Brendan’s Primary School Principal Sue Carr said the funding was an enormous help and would allow the school to build on its vision for the future.
“We are over the moon to have this funding from the Federal Government through the Capital Grants Program,” Mrs Carr said.
“Having four new learning areas will give us the space we need to ensure all our students’ needs are met.”
Mr Hunt said the CGP provided funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure where they may not otherwise have had access to sufficient resources.
“This record investment in school funding is allocated according to need and is tied to a range of evidence-based initiatives to improve outcomes in literacy, numeracy, Science Technology Engineering and Maths subjects, helping lift teacher quality and better preparing our children for life after school,” he said.
“The Turnbull Government is committed to improving the quality of education in schools and ensuring students have access to the resources they need to succeed in a competitive world.”
