JOINT MEDIA RELEASE
14th February 2022
$100,000 in grant funding is available across the Mornington Peninsula for community tree planting, to celebrate Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum Jubilee and her 70 years of service to Australia and the Commonwealth.
Grant funding between $2,500 and $20,000 is available for up to 10 projects and expressions of interest are open at https://www.greghunt.com.au/planting-trees-to-celebrate-the-queens-jubilee-grants-program/ until March 7th 2022.
Federal Member for Flinders, the Hon. Greg Hunt MP is encouraging local organisations, including schools and environment groups to submit an expression of interest online and play a part in the celebrations.
“I invite all local groups and organisations to submit an expression of interest for The Planting Trees for the Queen’s Jubilee Grants Program online on my website.” Minister Hunt said.
“Planting trees is a great way to expand the Mornington Peninsula’s beautiful environment and I want to encourage local groups to get involved.”
“Each tree planted will create a legacy for current and future generations to enjoy, while also serving to honour Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years of service to Australia and the Commonwealth.”
The Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee Program is one of a range of national and community events planned by the Australian Government to celebrate The Queen’s Jubilee year.
Projects that are suitable must include formal commemorative events in 2022 to mark the Jubilee, plantings of regionally‑appropriate tree species, and installation of commemorative signage or plaques.
