Federal Member for Flinders Greg Hunt visited the Balnarring Bowls Club to see the new solar panels and battery storage that have been installed thanks to funding under Round Two of the Stronger Communities Program.
“The Balnarring Bowls Club has used its $9,950 grant to install solar panels and battery storage at the club,” Mr Hunt said.
“These solar panels allow the club to generate its own power while the battery storage will allow the club to store electricity, which will significantly reduce the club’s power bills,” Mr Hunt said.
Balnarring Bowls Club Chief Executive Officer Evan Raskin said this meant the club could save money, enabling investment in other areas.
“We have already noticed a drop in our electricity costs, which makes a big difference to the overall expenditure of the club,” Mr Raskin said.
“As well as saving money on electricity, we are proud to have made efficiency gains that will contribute to a more sustainable environment.”
Mr Hunt said the Federal Government’s Stronger Communities grants had allowed groups to complete projects that delivered social benefits to improve the vibrancy of local communities.
