I am pledging my full support for Coolart Wetlands and Homestead to be added to the National Heritage List.
During a recent visit to the homestead, Friends of Coolart committee members emphasized the importance of gaining National Heritage listing in ensuring the ongoing protection of this local treasure.
Coolart is a beautiful, historic homestead in Somers, surrounded by stunning gardens as well as wetlands prolific with birdlife. We are lucky to have such a wonderful property in our own backyard that is open to the public to visit and explore.
Gaining National Heritage status opens up opportunities for further maintenance and protection of this historic building so that it can be preserved for years to come.
I am joining with the Friends of Coolart in their campaign to have Coolart Wetlands and Homestead added to the National Heritage List and will continue to work with the group on achieving this.
The Friends of Coolart organises some fantastic events at the homestead that are a treat for people of all ages but especially families with young children – my own two love going to Coolart to run around in the gardens.
I encourage anyone who hasn’t visited Coolart in a while to get down there and get involved in some of their activities – it’s a lovely spot to enjoy a spring afternoon.
