The Morrison Government’s record infrastructure investment continues to benefit the Mornington Peninsula Shire, with additional funding for vital Mornington Peninsula road projects secured in this week’s Budget.
Key major projects across the Mornington Peninsula to receive additional funding by the Morrison Government include:
- $10.5 million in funding for Uralla Road and Nepean Highway Intersection Upgrade, an increase of $5 million.
- $10 million in funding for the Forest Drive and Nepean Highway Intersection
Upgrade, an increase of $5 million.
The Forest Drive and Nepean Highway Intersection is expected to start construction in late 2021 and finish by early 2022, while the Uralla Road and Nepean Highway Intersection Upgrade is expected to start construction in mid-2021 and finish by late 2022.
Federal Member for Flinders, the Hon. Greg Hunt MP said these projects will support thousands of jobs across the state, better connect small businesses and continue to get more Peninsula residents and Victorians home sooner and safer with reduced travel times.
“From building the intermodal Melbourne needs for a better future for freight and productivity, to improving our Nepean Highway intersections, these projects will support more than 3,000 direct and indirect jobs across the Mornington Peninsula and Victoria,” Minister Hunt said.
“Major projects delivered since April last year include the Morrison Governments $10 million stage one funding for Forest Drive and Uralla road intersections and the almost $900,000 invested in road upgrades for Tootgarook and Moorooduc.”
“These projects must happen and will happen under our watch and we look forward to continued positive discussions with the Victorian Government on delivering these much needed upgrades for the community.”
“The Federal Budget continues the Morrison Government’s agenda to improve high-priority roads, essential to the movement of people and freight to support the Mornington Peninsula’s economic development.”
