Cerberus Cottage in Crib Point has received close to $15,000 thanks to the Australian Government’s Family Support Funding Program.
The Family Support Funding Program provides $1.4 million in funding to not-for-profit organisations to deliver local community programs with a strong focus on supporting Defence families and the Defence community.
The Cottage received $14,940 to deliver courses, group gatherings, events and family services to help build resilience in Defence families.
Cerberus Cottage’s Julie Prentice said the funding would allow them to run several programs to help HMAS Cerberus families and the local community.
“The Family Support Funding will enable to provide a multitude of programs including our youth connection program, fire safety program, cooking and budget courses, AUSLAN, Swimming lessons, gymnastics classes, coffee mornings, playgroups and group fitness training just to name a few,” Mrs Prentice said.
Federal Member for Flinders, the Hon. Greg Hunt MP said the Cottage provided an invaluable service to HMAS Cerberus families, as well as the local community.
“Cerberus Cottage does an incredible job supporting our Defence families and the Coalition Government is proud to support them,” Minister Hunt said.
“While many think the Cottage is only available to children of HMAS Cerberus, Cerberus Cottage is available for the whole community, providing programs that support local families and the local community.”
