Local residents in Mount Martha will benefit under a re-elected Turnbull Liberal Team with a $200,000 investment for stage one of the upgrade of the intersection of Forest Drive and Nepean Highway.
The funding will assist with preliminary works for immediate safety measures and will be carried out in conjunction with VicRoads and the community.
Upgrades to the Forest Drive and Nepean Highway intersection will ensure motorists, pedestrians and cyclists enjoy safer trips on our roads.
I am delighted to confirm that a re-elected Turnbull Liberal Team will invest $200,000 in upgrading this intersection.
The danger of this intersection was highlighted by a fatal accident on November 25, 2014.
Following the accident, local residents approached me to take further action on this issue and I have had ongoing correspondence with senior VicRoads officers and the State Minister for Roads and Road Safety on this issue.
This funding will fast-track the upgrade of this notoriously dangerous intersection. The Turnbull Government is investing a total of $9.7 billion in Victorian infrastructure and remain committed to the East West Link and will provide $3 billion to the first Victorian Government willing to build this vital project.
This investment includes a $1.5 billion infrastructure plan with $500 million towards the Monash Freeway, $350 million for the M80 Ring Road and $220 million for the Murray Basin Freight Rail, conditional on the Victorian Government matching this funding dollar for dollar.
The Turnbull Government is spending a record $50 billion on land transport infrastructure as part of our carefully structured economic plan to provide jobs and growth and a secure future for Australian families.
