Boys love their toys and men are no different – Men’s Sheds are always looking for new tools and equipment to add to their collections.
Round 11 of the National Shed Development Program is now open until September 18 for grants of up to $8,000.
These organisations play an important role in our community, keeping men active and providing an outlet where they can use their skills while socialising with other like-minded individuals.
Men’s Sheds help to reduce social isolation and mental health problems, particularly for older men and men living in rural and remote areas.
The Federal Government will commit $4.5 million over the next three years to assist the Australian Men’s Sheds Association to develop and maintain relationships with health providers and employ strategies to more effectively reach and engage men.
This federal funding will enable Men’s Sheds to maintain their shed, buy new tools and equipment, engage in training or start new projects.
This is great news for the sheds and the men who use them and I hope local groups will put in their applications.
All Men’s Sheds are eligible to apply for funding under the National Shed Development Program, with priority given to sheds in disadvantaged areas.
Applications close September 18 and can be made at www.mensshed.org/find-a-shed/.aspx
