Owners and managers of places on Australia’s National Heritage List are invited to apply for funding to help protect some of Australia’s most significant historic sites.
The Australian Government’s Protecting National Historic Sites programme is part of a commitment to provide opportunities to protect and maintain the historic values of places recognised on Australia’s National Heritage List.
58 of the 103 places on Australia’s National Heritage List are recognised for defining our nation’s historic heritage.
From the Australian War Memorial to the West Kimberley, and from the Great Ocean Road to Freemantle Prison, the stories associated with these 58 places are those that have shaped who we are, as individuals and as a nation.
These places build a strong sense of community and identity and remind us of who we are and where we have come from.
Up to $11.4 million is available over three financial years under the programme. Grants of between $25,000 and $1 million (GST exclusive) will be made available to site owners/managers who will undertake activities that protect and maintain the historic values of places listed on Australia’s National Heritage List.
Site owners/managers are strongly encouraged to consider applying for funding. Applications close on 22 April 2015.
