The Turnbull Government is bringing industry professionals into classrooms to teach the next generation of science, maths, engineering and IT leaders, as part of a new partnership between CSIRO and Ai Group.
The Scientists and Mathematicians in Schools (SMiS) program links industry professionals and scientists with classroom teachers and their students to generate interest and motivation in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) through real-world exposure.
We are committed to increasing student uptake of STEM subjects to address shortages in our workforce and prepare the next generation of skilled professionals to continue to take Australia forward as a leader in innovation.
Putting industry professionals and scientists in schools gives students the best possible opportunity to learn real-world skills direct from the experts.
The Australian Government encourages leaders and other professionals across Australian industries to CSIRO get involved in inspiring students in science and maths.
