Today we’ve learnt that Bill Shorten is, in every respect, a carbon copy of Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard.
But Bill Shorten not only wants to bring back the carbon tax – he wants a carbon tax on households and a carbon tax on electricity.
Today, Bill Shorten's secret plan for Labor’s whack on families, pensioners and business was revealed.
There's no doubt about it – Bill Shorten loves power and he loves power bills – Kevin Rudd couldn't trust him, Julia Gillard couldn't trust him, and once again we see the Australian people can't trust him.
And it doesn’t matter what Labor calls it – an Emissions Trading Scheme or a carbon tax – it’s the same thing. An Emissions Trading Scheme is simply a carbon tax by a different name.
If it taxes like a tax, if it looks like a tax, if it operates like a tax and if it increases your electricity and gas bills – it’s a tax.
Labor’s already brought back the architect of the carbon tax, Greg Combet, to help bring back the old failed policy. It was Greg Combet who last year urged Labor to bring back the carbon tax.
So tell us Bill Shorten – will you deny that your secret plan will push up power prices? Will you absolutely rule out increasing power prices for Australian families?
The other question for Labor today is – who leaked the shadow cabinet document and why? Was it to kill the carbon tax or was it to kill Bill?
It's just more chaos and dysfunction from the carbon tax loving Labor party.
Only under the Coalition is the carbon tax gone for good.
Power prices fell by the largest amount on record when we scrapped the carbon tax. And we'll keep your power bills free of a painful carbon tax.
We’ve already shown with the 47 million tonne first Emissions Reduction Fund auction that we can reduce emissions effectively without a massive hit to families through a carbon tax.
The Coalition is committed to tackling climate change without a job destroying carbon tax.
