Superfast broadband is coming to more than 87,000 homes and businesses in the electorate under an accelerated three-year rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN).
Today NBN is releasing its full construction schedule, providing Australians with the greatest detail yet on when the NBN will reach them.
Across Australia the National Broadband Network (NBN) is powering ahead with the release today of a comprehensive construction plan to network 9.5 million premises nationwide.
The new rollout plan extends to September 2018 and provides a breakdown of when the network will be starting in locations.
I hope this new rollout plan will provide peace of mind for residents across the electorate, allowing them to plan for the future.
Many residents have come to me to express their frustration over inadequate access to broadband.
In this era, where we rely on the internet for everything from paying bills to completing further study, having fast and reliable internet is imperative.
I am particularly pleased to see Rosebud and Rosebud West included in the forward rollout plan for the first time. Rosebud is a major activity centre and the NBN will make an enormous difference to both residents and businesses in the township.
The rollout is happening faster than ever since the Coalition Government took office and trials have started to test other technologies which will dramatically lower the cost and time it will take to deliver fast broadband to all Australians.
The release of the plan is a huge step forward for the NBN as the company works to speed up the rollout and make the build as cost-efficient as possible. The Coalition Government understands that internet access is important for our community and will transform education, health care and other critical online services.
Nationwide, more than 1.3 million homes and businesses can now order an NBN service and there are almost 700,000 homes and business under construction.
More than 600,000 premises already have an active connection and are enjoying the benefits of very fast broadband and the NBN is working to provide fast interest to every home and business in Australia by 2020.
The Coalition Government recognises that consumers want fast broadband as soon as possible. All services over the NBN will allow families to stream movies, surf the web, and complete schoolwork online, – all at one time. Businesses will also benefit from the vastly higher bandwidth available.
I will continue to keep the community informed of the progress of the NBN. Residents can check their suburb at: www.nbnco.com.au/rolloutplan
