JOINT MEDIA RELEASE WITH PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY TO THE MINISTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, HON BOB BALDWIN MP & FEDERAL MEMBER FOR HUGHES, CRAIG KELLY MP
As part of our commitment to improving Australia’s air quality, the Government is delighted to announce Professor Peter Rayner as Australia’s third Clean Air Champion.
The announcement of Professor Rayner as a Clean Air Champion complements his existing role as the leader of the Clean Air and Urban Landscapes Hub.
Professor Rayner’s most recent research on tracking sources of greenhouse gasses and pollutants makes him an ideal candidate to bring a scientific perspective to discussions regarding air quality.
Clean Air Champions are a select group of representatives from industry, community and academia who help to raise awareness and knowledge of air quality issues through their own clean air activities.
The Clean Air Champions initiative supports work towards establishing a National Clean Air Agreement by bringing industry and communities together to support this important environmental objective.
Other Clean Air Champions are the Hyundai Motor Company Australia and Mr Gary Fooks from the outdoor power equipment and outboard motor industry.
The National Clean Air Agreement will focus on actions to reduce air pollution and improve air quality through cooperative action between industry and government at the national, state and local level.
