Labor’s lack of credibility in dealing with climate change is getting worse by the day.
The latest claims about the Government “fudging numbers” are absolute nonsense.
Labor is getting so desperate they’re now attacking the United Nations.
We use a set of accounting standards established by the United Nations to calculate emissions. We don’t make the rules.
We’re using exactly the same accounting standards that were adopted by Labor in 2012.
In Labor’s own submission to the United Nations in 2012, they said that setting a 2020 emissions reduction target would be conditional on:
“the rules applying to carryover of units from the first commitment period of the Kyoto protocol”
In other words, Labor made carryover accounting a central condition of the bipartisan 2020 emissions target.
They now oppose the international standards which they demanded.
The document is available online. Mark Butler and Bill Shorten might like to have a read to refresh their memories:
Labor continues to mislead the Australian public. They have no target and no plans for tackling climate change.
Labor are just looking more and more desperate by the day. They don’t have a clue.
