MEDIA RELEASE
Mornington residents will continue to have local access to Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support services at the Mornington Service Centre on Main Street.
Member for Flinders, the Hon Greg Hunt MP said the decision showed the Morrison Government’s continuing commitment to supporting the people of the Mornington Peninsula.
“As soon as I heard of plans to close the Mornington Service Centre, I have worked tirelessly with the relevant Minister to secure a long-term solution for the community,” Minister Hunt said.
“Following long standing and continued advocacy from myself, my office and the community, I am pleased to announce that we have secured an ongoing and permanent service for the Mornington community.”
“We know many Australians are doing it tough right now, and the service centre will be there to continue to deliver key coronavirus support to locals on the Mornington Peninsula during this challenging time,” Minister Hunt said.
Minister for Government Services, Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC said the Morrison Government had committed to maintaining a service centre in Mornington.
Minister Reynolds also reminded locals they could also complete their Medicare and Centrelink claims online if they so choose.
“I encourage the community to take a look at the range of digital services available through myGov and Services Australia’s Express Plus apps,” Minister Reynolds said.
“You can use these services to do your routine government business where and when it suits you, without having to visit a service centre.”
The Mornington Service Centre is at 332 Main Street Mornington, open Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
