I call on new Victorian Health Minister Jill Hennessy to guarantee that Phillip Island will get the $2.2 million committed by the previous state government for a new health facility at Cowes.
It would be deeply disappointing if the new Victorian Government were to renege on the previous government’s $2.2 million commitment to health on Phillip Island.
Phillip Island residents deserve to know that the change of government will not deprive them of this much-needed state funding.
The Federal Government has allocated $2.5 million in the 2014-15 Budget to improve health services on the Island and I am currently working closely with the Phillip Island community to determine the best use for this capital grant.
This Federal Government funding has the potential to add critical new health services to the Island. I look forward to working with Minister Hennessy to ensure that Phillip Island residents get access to better health services as a matter of urgency.
