After months of negotiations, I am pleased that VicRoads has confirmed its commitment to improving safety at the dangerous Forest Drive intersection thanks to $200,000 in federal funding.
I welcome a recent letter from Victorian Minister for Roads Luke Donnellan confirming the funds will be used to install interim safety measures at this horrendous intersection.
At the last election, I assured residents that the Turnbull Government would support local residents by making this intersection safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
Residents and visitors have long been concerned with the state of this intersection and I have worked with them to ensure the community’s safety.
I share the concerns of local residents following a fatality and several near misses at this site and am relieved that this funding will prevent motorists having to avoid this road.
This ensures that desperately needed safety measures will go ahead.
The Turnbull Government is investing $7.6 billion in Victorian infrastructure, including $500 million towards the Monash Freeway upgrade, which will benefit thousands of Mornington Peninsula residents.
