Residents in Longman should be alert to Bill Shorten’s deliberate and desperate campaign to scare patients with blatant lies on health funding.
In stark contrast in Longman, the Turnbull Government is delivering:
• Record funding to the Metro North Hospital Network, including a 53 per cent increase to local hospitals compared to Labor – including to Caboolture Hospital
• Record GP bulk-billing rate of 93 per cent, meaning almost every visit to the doctor is free of charge to residents – this is one of the highest rates in Australia
• Over 220,000 extra free visits to see the doctor than Labor managed when they were last in charge of Medicare for the July to March period
• The lowest change in private health insurance premiums in 17 years, compared to Labor’s plan to increase premiums by 16 per cent, putting pressure on Caboolture Hospital
You can’t believe a word Bill Shorten says on citizenship.
You can’t trust him to manage the economy.
And you shouldn’t believe a single health message he puts out on a truck, leaflet or press release.
Labor puts politics before patients.
The Turnbull Government will continue our absolute rock-solid commitment to Medicare with an additional $4.8 billion investment.
And we are investing more in public hospitals than ever before. Under our new agreement we will deliver more than $30 billion in additional public hospital funding, with funding increasing for every state and territory, every year.
This is guaranteed funding that will deliver more doctors, more nursers and importantly more services for patients in Longman and Queensland.
From 2020-21 to 2024-25, the new agreement will deliver a record $130 billion in public hospital funding, with six of Australia’s eight states and territories now covered by this new agreement, including three Labor governments and three Liberal governments.
This represents a more than doubling of public hospital funding under the Coalition Government compared to Labor – rising from $13.3 billion in 2012-13 to $28.7 billion in 2024-25.
Only the Coalition Government will continue to put patients first.
