The Australian Government will provide grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 to install solar photovoltaic panels and solar hot water systems on buildings used by community groups in South Australia.
The Solar Towns Programme provides $2.1 million to community groups across Australia to buy and install renewable energy systems on buildings that support the local community.
Under this round, $300,000 will be made available to community groups in the Cities of Playford and Salisbury.
The Solar Towns Programme is a fantastic opportunity for communities to engage at a local level with clean renewable energy and improve their local environments.
The funding will be made available to community groups in the area to assist with the purchase and installation of solar photovoltaic panels and solar hot water systems on the buildings they utilise.
Community groups in Playford and Salisbury such as sports clubs, service clubs and community health services are strongly encouraged to apply.
Today’s funding announcement follows grants made to more than 30 building owners and community groups in Tasmania and Victoria to install renewable energy systems on their buildings.
Community groups in the Cities of Playford and Salisbury are now able to apply for grants. This round closes on 2 October 2015.
