Balnarring residents are moving closer to much-needed upgrades to Frankston-Flinders Road, with stage one in Federal Government funding delivered to the Victorian Government for pedestrian safety upgrades.
To date, $230,000 has been provided to the Victorian Government for the project, with detailed planning currently underway.
Federal Member for Flinders, the Hon. Greg Hunt MP, said the delivered funding means Balnarring residents, particularly children and the elderly, will be able to cross Frankston-Flinders Road safely.
“Balnarring residents have called for important pedestrian safety improvements in the township for years,” Minister Hunt said. “Six hundred locals signed a petition calling for these improvements and the Mornington Peninsula Shire made requests to the Victorian Government, however these went unrewarded for years.”
“At the 2019 election, the Coalition Government committed $1 million to implement pedestrian safety upgrades and break this deadlock. I am pleased that the Victorian Government has finally joined us in committing to this project.”
