Motorists in Coronet Bay and Woodleigh will benefit under a re-elected Turnbull Coalition Team with a $1.4 million investment to complete road safety upgrades.
On Agar Road between Corinella Road and Soldiers Road at Coronet Bay, edge lines, raised reflective pavement markers, guideposts and guardrails will be installed with $974,000 of funding.
On Woodleigh-St Helliers Road from Gurdies St, Helliers Road to Loch –Kernot Road in Woodleigh, guardrails, alignment markers and advisory speed limit signage will be installed with $445,000 of funding.
These upgrades will ensure motorists, pedestrians and cyclists enjoy safer trips on our roads.
As part of the Turnbull Coalition Team, I have long-been committed to fighting for and delivering funding to improve safety on local roads.
These particular sections of roads have been recognised by residents as a dangerous, prone to accidents and many concerned residents have told me of their own near misses in these areas.
I look forward to seeing these upgrades carried out and will also be advocating for additional funding to support further upgrades for our local roads.
The Coalition is committed to improving regional roads that had a history of crashes causing death or serious injury. We have committed $500 million to the Black Spot Programme from 2014-15 to 2018-19, including an additional $200 million over two years from 2015-16 to improve road safety and infrastructure across the country.
We have also provided record funding for the Roads to Recovery Programme to support local councils to upgrade and maintain the local road network. In 2016-17 councils across the Flinders electorate will receive more than $9.3 million.
