Bowls Clubs on the Mornington Peninsula will receive an infrastructure boost, thanks to the Liberal National Government.
As part of the 2019/20 Budget, the Coalition Government has invested:
- $100,000 for lighting upgrades at Mornington Civic, Somerville, Sorrento and Rosebud Bowls Clubs
- $25,000 to Mount Martha Bowls Club to replace their dilapidated Centre Green
Federal Member for Flinders, the Hon. Greg Hunt MP, said the funding would allow locals, particularly elderly residents of the Mornington Peninsula to be more active, more often.
“We know the benefits of physical health no matter the sport or activity; and lawn bowls are a major part of the sporting landscape for those on the Mornington Peninsula,” Minister Hunt said.
“These five clubs work hard to keep seniors and younger Australians alike active in the local communities, however have had their individual challenges meeting the demand for the use of their facilities.”
“This delivered funding means that these five bowls clubs can have more facilities open and more access for local residents to stay active.”
