I am delighted that we are closer to stepping onto a refurbished pier at Dromana after tenders to repair the pier closed in October.
The Dromana Pier is an iconic landmark of the Mornington Peninsula and these works will ensure it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
I congratulate Nepean MP Martin Dixon for his hard work in bringing this to fruition. It is terrific that this outcome could be achieved in such a timely manner to prevent further deterioration of the pier.
Last year, I was approached by the Association for Building Community in Dromana and joined their campaign to have the pier upgraded.
The pier is a much-loved part of the Dromana horizon and I, like members of the ABCD and others in the community, could not stand by as it rotted away from concrete cancer.
I eagerly await the announcement of the successful tenderer, who will carry out vital restoration works.
This is a terrific outcome for the community and I look forward to following the progress of the works, which are expected to commence early next year.
