Boys love their toys and men are no different – Men’s Sheds are always looking for new tools and equipment to add to their collections.
Round 15 of the National Shed Development Program is now open for applications until July 7 for grants of up to $10,000.
These organisations play an important role in our community, keeping men active and providing an outlet where they can use their skills while socialising with other like-minded individuals.
Men’s Sheds help to reduce social isolation and mental health problems, particularly for older men and men who may not have a large support network.
The Federal Government has committed $800,000 in 2017-18 to allow Men’s Shed groups to apply for funding to support a range of items and services.
This Federal funding will enable groups to maintain their shed, buy new tools or equipment, engage in training or start new projects.
This is great news for the sheds and the men who use them and I hope local groups will put in their applications.
All Men’s Sheds are eligible to apply for funding under the National Shed Development Program, with priority given to sheds in disadvantaged areas.
Applications close July 7 and can be made at http://www.mensshed.org/national-shed-development-programme/
