It was a pleasure to visit Bass Coast Cleaning and Property Management in Koo Wee Rup recently – an innovative local business supporting people living with mental health challenges.
Founded by Lanie Muir, the business employs people suffering from a range of mental health issues.
By assisting these people into employment it provides a sense of hope for their future by reducing some of the usual barriers they may come up against.
What started as a small cleaning business operating from a home office, has now secured contracts with some of the region’s major employers.
The company has expanded from cleaning into property management and now employs 11 staff members, all with mental health issues.
The business has gone from strength to strength since starting 12 months ago and is an outstanding example of a local business with a social conscience.
I look forward to watching this business grow and hope to see more businesses following in its footsteps.
